Mt Bierstadt, CO- Elevation 14,060- 08/31/2002
My very first 14er, hiked from Guanella pass. It was about 6.5 miles round trip and 2900 feet elevation gain. I didn't think I would ever make it up to the summit, but I was determined and finally did.
A sign at the trailhead of this popular peak.
Another sign, wow if only they were all marked this nicely.
A close look at the sawtooth ridge that connects Bierstadt and Evans.
From the summit you can see Grays and Torreys, the two peaks that are close together in the far background, and a little bit of the road that goes over Guanella pass.
Here is the other picture of me holding up a sign someone left on the summit.
The mandatory self portrait from the summit.
I drove up 285 on the way to the summit and exited out to Georgetown and I70 where I saw this Bighorn sheep near the road.
A nice overlook of Georgetown, where I stopped for fishing on the way home.
